“The Addams Family Reunion: A Murder Mystery Farce”

September 16, 2004 -- The Addams Family has moved its creepy antics to a new winter vacation home: the haunted Olivas Adobe in Ventura! This October 15 and 16, the Cultural Affairs Division will present a delectable who-done-it Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, “The Addams Family Reunion,” at 4200 Olivas Park Drive. There will be two shows per day, at 6 pm and the second, at 8:30 pm ($50 per person, reservations required).

Guests will have the unique opportunity to wine and dine in the historic Fleischmann Dining Room with fellow spirits at this freakish reunion. A wine toast, generously donated by Old Creek Ranch Winery, and appetizers commence the murderous evening. A benevolent sitcom rivalry with the Munsters ensues with a full-catered buffet. Clues and shenanigans by the actors provide for a festive dinner hour catered by Adventures in Taste of Oxnard. Diners will tour the Olivas Adobe and play sleuths to the murders of various famous characters amidst the frightfully decorative backdrop of the haunted hacienda.

Roxanne Diesel, a locally renowned director, presents the farce production. Diesel and her company, Gypsies in the Trunk, have served the county community for over a decade with free theatrical presentations, including the Fairy Tales in the Park series. “The Addams Family Reunion” will carry with it the same zeal as her other productions, clever and charming – however, it will be age appropriate to the patrons looking forward to a saltier evening. As Morticia and Gomez carry on their racy banter, everyone will be able to relate to the conflicts experienced within this odd family.

Reservations are required for this exclusive event. Tickets cost $50 and guests must by 21 years or older. For information and tickets, call the Community Services Department at 658-4726 or register online at www.ci.ventura.us.
